Jorge Barrios Issues a Edwin Valero a Formal Challenge for a Fight in January

By Brent Matteo Alderson

In an exclusive interview with FightFanNation.com’s Brent Matteo Alderson Jorge Barrios issued a formal challenge to Edwin Valero. Jorge Barrios informed FightFanNation.com that he has a November bout planned in Argentina against Mexico’s Michael Lozada 33-5-1, and commented that he would be ready to fight Valero in January, “Valero doesn’t have television backing and I do so if he wants to do it in Uruguay or Argentina we can do it in January. I’m actually formally challenging Valero to take the fight.”

When asked if he would go to Venezuela to fight Valero, Barrios commented, “I’m not sure what would happen over there, they may not even pay me, I wouldn’t go over there.”
A Valero-Barrios clash has been building since the two fighters clashed at a press conference in Los Angeles in February and even though Barrios has seen better days it would be the biggest South American clash since Carlos Monzon-Rodrigo Valdez or Nicolino Locche-Antonio Cervantes in the seventies.
